Poké is the new avo toast, so if you’ve resigned yourself to never getting in the real estate market in Vancouver, take heart that you now have another killer option for getting your hands on some fresh seafood in bowls with all the fixings.

One of Van’s fave seafood shops, Fresh Ideas Start Here (F.I.S.H.), has launched an in-house FISHbar at both their seafood market locations (Burnaby and Kitsilano).

There you will find Ocean Wise sashimi grade seafood (think local wild-caught salmon, octopus, Pacific hand-line caught Yellowfin tuna) and add-ons from F.I.S.H.’s signature lineup like shoyu ikura, smoked uni (available in the fall), and herring roe on kelp.

Basically you build your own cold seafood bowl, much like at a poké shop, and you can get enough to satisfy a snack-ish craving, or have a full on fish feast, sauces, seaweed and all. Plus they’ve got tasty things you can toss in your order like stuffed inari pockets and hand-pressed onigiri, with Japanese drinks to pair with your bowl.

Prices at the FISHbar start at $7 with introductory specials until July 31, 2017.
