The countdown is on.
The IIHF World Junior Championship kicks off officially on Boxing Day in Vancouver and Victoria this year.
To help celebrate the tournament, the City of Vancouver and Park Board will be hosting a pair of free public ice skating sessions on Saturday, December 1.

One session is open to the public at Trout Lake Community Centre (3360 Victoria Dr, Vancouver) from 12:45 pm to 3:30 pm, where there will be World Junior ticket giveaways and sports celebrities.
A free skate will also be available at Hillcrest Community Centre (4575 Clancy Loranger Way, Vancouver) from 1 pm to 4:45 pm.
Both sessions include free skate rentals.

The World Juniors is a 10-team international hockey tournament featuring the best U20 hockey players on the planet. Running from December 26 to January 5, past tournaments have featured the likes of Wayne Gretzky, Sidney Crosby, and Connor McDavid, among others.
