Fraser Health declares COVID-19 outbreaks at multiple farms

Fraser Health has declared COVID-19 outbreaks at four locations of Highline Farms after finding evidence of COVID-19 transmission among staff, and a separate outbreak at a care home.

According to the health authority, the outbreaks affect the following locations:

Abby Farm – 38050 Atkinson Road, Abbotsford
Infinity – 28424 Townshipline Road, Abbotsford
Trademark – 28243 Townshipline Road, Abbotsford
3392 224 Street, Langley

In a release, Fraser Health said that to date, 59 employees at these locations have tested positive for COVID-19.

“Fraser Health has screened employees at each facility, and case and contact management has taken place,” the health authority said. “Those identified as cases and close contacts have been instructed to self-isolate.”

In addition, Fraser Health has issued closure orders for these four locations, and they are working with the business operator to strengthen their COVID-19 mitigation strategies.

The health authority has also declared a COVID-19 outbreak in the high-intensity rehabilitation unit at Laurel Place, “after evidence of transmission in this unit.”

Four patients and two staff have tested positive for COVID-19. The outbreak is limited to one unit, which is temporarily closed to admissions.

Fraser Health has notified all patients on the affected unit about the outbreak, and in addition, have informed the families of patients who are unable to share this information.

“At this time, it is critically important for people living in the Fraser Health region to use the COVID-19 assessment tool and get tested as soon as you have COVID-19-like symptoms, even mild ones,” the health authority stressed. “Please don’t wait, and book or drop by one of our collection centres which are operated in partnership with local Divisions of Family Practice.”
