A Ferrari driver was given a hefty fine after being caught for excessive speeding on the Sea to Sky Highway.

The Squamish RCMP say that the driver was going through Porteau Cove. They were reportedly driving at 189 km/h, more than double the posted speed limit of 80 km/h.

“Mr. Ferrari didn’t know we were doing traffic enforcement all weekend with our traffic and seasonal teams,” reads a tweet from the Squamish RCMP.

“Going 189km/hr in Porteau Cove in an 80 km zone on the SeatoSkyHighway
is never a good idea, so much so we decided to keep the car for the next 7 days!”

The BC RCMP also commented, pleading people to slow down and practice caution.

“We don’t need more of what happened near Whistler this weekend,” they wrote on their Twitter account.

A serious crash also occurred on the Sea to Sky Highway this past weekend, just south of Whistler. A silver Lamborghini participating in a charity car rally was involved in an incident with a black Range Rover and crossed the median, hitting a Toyota that was driving the other way.

Several individuals, including two youth, were injured during the incident. Several ambulance units, fire, and an air ambulance were called to the scene. The collision also closed the highway between Squamish and Whistler for several hours.
