After two people were found dead inside a Coquitlam home this week, the Integrated Homicide Investigation Team (IHIT) has now confirmed that the deceased were father and son.

According to police, officers were called to a residence on Seaton Avenue in Coquitlam around 3:30 pm on Monday.

On Wednesday, IHIT Const. Harrison Mohr said evidence from the initial investigation indicates that one of the deceased was the victim of a homicide.

And on Friday, IHIT Cpl. Frank Jang confirmed the family relationship between the two victims, with the son being just 8 years old.

“Even as the IHIT spokesman, it is hard for me to find the right words to capture the full tragic nature of this event,” he told Daily Hive.

Jang said autopsies on both the victims were completed on Thursday but that police won’t be commenting on the cause of death.

“We’re also not pursuing any further suspects,” he added.

In the meantime, said Jang, “our thoughts are with the family and others impacted by this difficult news. We hope they will reach out to their respective support networks to begin the journey towards healing.”
