A fatal traffic accident on Highway 1 in Langley claimed the life of a 40-year-old Abbotsford man on Tuesday.

Around 5:20 am, Langley RCMP responded to a report of a three-vehicle collision in the east bound lanes of Highway 1 near the 232nd Street exit.

When they arrived at the scene, police found a black Acura in the ditch and the lone male driver was pronounced dead at the scene.

The occupants of the other two vehicles escaped the incident without injury.

Investigators from the Port Mann RCMP, BC Coroners Service and the Integrated Collision Analysis and Reconstruction Service (ICARS) are looking into what exactly caused the crash.

Driver impairment as well as speed have not been ruled out as contributing factors in the accident.
