11 family-friendly Halloween events to check out in Vancouver

The spooky season is upon us, and your little ghouls and goblins are ready to celebrate Halloween! It’s a good thing Metro Vancouver and the surrounding areas are filled with family-friendly events to enjoy all month long.

From HowlOver Canada to the Parade of Lost Souls, trick-or-treat events and more, there’s something for all ages to enjoy. So what are you waiting for?

Here’s our list of 11 fun Halloween events to check out with the family this October!

HowlOver Canada

FlyOver

What: Immersive flight ride attraction FlyOver is transforming into HowlOver Canada from Oct. 9 to 31. During the Halloween experience, passengers will meet Biker Mama the Witch and her band of spooky sidekicks before taking off on a flight through the night sky. The annual event also includes an original, eerie pre-show and lots of chilling decorations.

Canyon Frights

What: Capilano Suspension Bridge Park will be decorated with pumpkins and spooky displays for its annual Halloween event, Canyon Frights. There are plenty of photo ops, family-friendly activities, live performances and more to check out.

Fin-tastic Fall Days

What: The Vancouver Aquarium is proving that the best place to experience fall is with 65,000 animals and sea creatures at Fin-tastic Fall Days.

Guests can expect a bunch of seasonal talks, daily animal feeds, and other all-ages programming.

Trick-or-treat your way through each Bat House in the signature scavenger hunt, or, if creepy-crawly creatures are more your style, brace yourself for a 4D adventure that brings rainforest insects to life on the big screen — it’s sure to be a whole lot of squirm-worthy fun.

And just when you think it can’t get any cooler, you can catch divers carving jaw-dropping Jack-O-Lanterns beneath the waves of an aquarium habitat, happening daily starting Oct. 18!

Haunted Village: Legends, Tales and Other Stories

Burnaby Village Museum

What: Burnaby Halloween Festival, presented by Tourism Burnaby, offers a wide variety of eerie events and activities throughout October.

One of the feature attractions is Burnaby Village Museum’s family-friendly Haunted Village: Legends, Tales and Other Stories, transforming the 10-acre historical attraction into a magical world from Oct. 22 to 26.

The open-air event invites guests to go on a unique, self-guided walk and discover wondrous tales lifted from storybook pages, transformed into stunning displays.

Halloween Trick or Treat at Sea to Sky Gondola

What: Sea to Sky Gondola’s popular Halloween tradition continues. Trick-or-treaters of all ages are invited to dress in costume and discover the spooky surprises around Alpine Alley.

You’ll be working up an appetite with all the family-friendly activities, so check out the cafe for a delicious menu that includes spooky donuts, pumpkin pie, and more.

Pumpkins After Dark

What: Pumpkins After Dark is an outdoor experience set to haunt Swangard Stadium and Central Park until Halloween night.

Guests can expect to see over 10,000 hand-carved pumpkins resembling classic Halloween characters, dinosaurs and dragons, movie and pop culture icons, and more.

Parade of Lost Souls 2025

What: The Dusty Flowerpot Cabaret’s Parade of Lost Souls is a thrilling evening of performance, music and art. The festivities are free to enjoy, though donations are appreciated to keep the spooky tradition alive.

The paranormal procession will begin at 7 p.m., with the location and route to be revealed after 12 a.m. on Friday, Oct. 31. There is also a family-friendly Parade of Little Souls for children planned for the evening, and two after-parties are slated for Strange Fellows Brewing and at Biltmore Cabaret.

Halloween Spooktacular at Granville Island

What: Granville Island Kids Market is in the Halloween spirit. Visit the Kid’s Market on Sunday, Oct. 26, between 11 a.m. and 1 p.m. for trick-or-treating. The little ones can also get their face painted with a spooky design, and the whole family can take a picture in the photo op and listen to live music.

Day of the Dead at Britannia Mine Museum

What: Britannia Mine Museum presents family-friendly frights and delights this Halloween season. Visitors of all ages are invited to enjoy the Día de los Muertos, rooted in Mexican culture and traditions.

Get ready to go on an immersive underground tour, check out the colourful displays, discover interactive experiences, and more.

Bear Creek Park Halloween Train

What: Bear Creek Park Train presents its annual Pumpkin Train and Halloween Scream Train in Surrey throughout October. Whichever ride you choose, you’ll climb aboard Eddy the Engine for a spooky and delightful trip at one of the city’s most popular parks.

The little ones are invited on the daytime Pumpkin Train, while those looking for more frights can climb aboard the evening Halloween Scream Train. But beware: don’t let Chainsaw Charlie get you!

What: The Haunted Sea at the Gulf of Georgia Cannery invites visitors of all ages to meet eerie sea creatures and explore the discovery of colourful underwater decor created from upcycled materials.
