The Fairmont Hotel Vancouver has made a habit of dishing up drool-worthy themed high teas.
The afternoon tea service, which takes place in the Private Dining Room of Notch8 Restaurant & Bar, has previously delighted Vancouverites with Brothers Grimm, Canada 150, and Game On! themed teas in 2017, but this year they’ve gone glam.
The Silver Screen Hollywood Afternoon Tea celebrates all the glitz of Old Hollywood, think Marilyn Monroe, Elizabeth Taylor, and John Wayne. Black and white flicks are projected on a screen at the centre of the room, but the real star of the show is the food.
Decadent-themed fare takes the stage on this set menu, and it includes offerings such as Raspberry and Cranberry Cremeaux with golden streusel and Cranberry and Giandujia Chocolate Scones served with Notch8’s signature clotted cream and citrus butter.
For savoury bites you’ll see a Steak ‘Oscar’ Truffle Sandwich made with tenderloin, Dungeness crab, and béarnaise aioli, a Caviar and Smoked Salmon Deviled Egg with mascarpone, chives, and dill, and a Green Goddess Salad with lobster, ruby red grapefruit, butter lettuce, heart of palm, and brioche.
Finish on a sweet note with creations from the in-house Pastry Shop such as the ‘Lights, Camera, Action’ Green Tea & Cherry Gateaux Clapboard, a ‘Reel to Reel’ Shortbread, and the ‘Chocolate Tuxedo’ Flourless Chocolate Cake.
All of these offerings are presented on hotel’s original stamped silver, and can be combined with your choice of Fairmont’s Lot 35 Tea to sip on.
For anyone who wants to take their tea up a notch, they can order three specialty cocktails created for the tea’s theme like the Marilyn, made with Finlandia vodka, fresh raspberries, lemon and sparkling wine.
