Evo carshare will be "temporarily unavailable" this weekend

There will be limited carshare options in Vancouver in the coming days, as Evo announced it will be temporarily unavailable this weekend.

Evo tells Daily Hive it will be updating its app this weekend and the service will be unavailable from 11:59 pm on Saturday, February 29 to noon Sunday, March 1.

“We chose that time because it’s our slowest period, so we hope it isn’t too much of an inconvenience,” said Sara Holland, spokesperson for BCAA and Evo.

After the update, Holland says members will need the updated version of the app to continue using the service.

“Evo cars will work as normal after the app update,” she notes.

Evo’s temporary service outage comes as carshare service SHARE NOW — formerly known as car2go — ceases operations in North America on Saturday.

In light of SHARE NOW’s exit from the market, Evo announced it will be adding 250 more vehicles to its fleet this spring.

Holland says the additional cars should arrive by April, increasing Evo’s fleet to 1,750 vehicles.
