An employee at a Real Canadian Superstore located in East Vancouver has tested presumptive positive for COVID-19.

A spokesperson for Loblaws tells Daily Hive in an email that the team member worked at the Superstore located at 3185 Grandview Highway.

The individual has not been inside the store since April 9, however, and the store was closed for a thorough cleaning before reopening to the public today.

“We are reaching out to the local public health team and have taken a number of steps to minimize risk, including increased sanitization protocols and enforcing social distancing practices in the store,” says the spokesperson.

Employees who worked closely with the individual are also at home in self-isolation, monitoring for any symptoms.

British Columbia health officials announced 44 new test-positive coronavirus cases and three more deaths on Wednesday afternoon.

During a press conference, Provincial Health Officer Dr. Bonnie Henry said the total number of recorded cases in the province now sits at 1,561, and the total number of deaths now sits at 75.
