Aleph Eatery may have closed its doors at the start of the year, but that doesn’t mean the team behind the restaurant has stopped.

El Compa  — short for compañero, meaning companion or friend — is a new eatery brought to us by Carloses and Pablo, two former Aleph employees who have opened the restaurant with former Aleph owner Haitham El Khatib’s blessing.

“We wanted to honour the legacy of Aleph by passing it on to the people who made it special every day. They know what it means to connect with guests and bring something meaningful to the table,” said El Khatib.

“El Compa is their vision, and I couldn’t be prouder to see this space transformed into something so lively, fun, and full of heart.”

On the menu, you’ll find many delicious Mexican favourites, which the restaurant said includes “tacos bursting with vibrant fillings, tangy and smoky salsa that elevate every dish, and a rotating menu to keep things fresh and exciting.” You’ll also find a streamlined cocktail menu here, including strong margaritas and plenty of ice-cold beer.

The new spot said it isn’t just another place serving tacos but rather a space that embodies the soul of Mexico, blending traditional recipes with a creative twist.

Aleph Eatery closed its doors after seven years of operation due to debts from the pandemic that it couldn’t recover from despite its best efforts. However, it is currently still accepting delivery and takeout orders through its website.
