One man is dead and another has been arrested after an overnight homicide in East Vancouver on Sunday.

According to police, emergency crews were called to Kingsway and Nanaimo Street just before 1:30 am, for reports of an injured man.

The man, who was identified as 55-year-old Vancouver resident Dam Minh Huu was taken to the hospital, but ultimately succumbed to his injuries.

Now, a 48-year-old man has been arrested in connection with Huu’s murder and investigators are currently working to piece the evidence together.

“The evidence suggests that the two men, who knew each other, got into an argument on the street a few blocks from where Mr. Huu was located,” said VPD Sgt. Jason Robillard. “The argument escalated resulting in the death of Mr. Huu.”

Robillard said Homicide detectives are not looking for any other suspects and do not believe the public is at risk.

Still, police are asking anyone who may have witnessed the incident – or who may have any information – to call VPD Homicide at (604) 717-2500, Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477, or leave a tip online at solvecrime.ca.
