VPD are crediting “teamwork” between a witness, Metro Vancouver Transit Police, and the Vancouver Police for the arrest of three suspects in Vancouver after robbery on Thursday night.

According to police, the incident began around 10 pm, when a man allegedly entered a restaurant on West Broadway near Cambie Street with his face covered, and armed with a firearm.

“He demanded money from the cash register, and then left the store with an undisclosed amount,” said VPD Const. Jason Doucette.

Doucette said a citizen witnessed the incident and immediately reported it to Metro Vancouver Transit Police officers nearby, which resulted in three men being arrested for robbery.

“This is another great example of teamwork between the Transit Police and the VPD, and with the public,” said Doucette. “These suspects could have avoided arrest without the witness and officers taking quick action.”

VPD have now taken over the investigation and are recommending charges related to the robbery against two Vancouver men in their 20s.

The third was later released without charge.
