A Vancouver dog was revived with CPR this week after it started to drown in the frigid English Bay water.

Gryphon the pup had gone swimming, and her owner went into the water to try and rescue her when she started struggling, according to Deputy Chief Howard Chow with the Vancouver Police Department.

Several bystanders rushed to help, jumping in the water themselves to bring the dog back to dry land.  Gryphon was unconscious when she came out of the water, and the locals performed CPR to revive her.

Chow thanked the bystanders for helping, and added Gryphon was taken to the vet to be checked out.
