A 29-year-old Maple Ridge man is facing charges after multiple collisions in Port Coquitlam on Wednesday, one involving a police car.

Coquitlam RCMP said the incident began just before 11 am, when an officer attempted to pull over a vehicle as part of a traffic top on the corner of Kingsway Avenue and the Mary Hill Bypass.

Instead of pulling over though, “the driver is accused of causing a collision with the police car that attempted to pull him over,” said RCMP Cpl. Michael McLaughlin.

A short time later, another police car also attempted to pull over the suspect on Broadway Street near the Mary Hill Bypass.

This time, the suspect vehicle was involved in a collision with a civilian vehicle before the driver was taken into custody.

Police said that so far it appears that all injuries are minor, but that they are “doing a full investigation into the circumstances of the collisions.”
