The end of the road is coming for this legacy B.C. traffic reporting platform

If you’ve been a longtime user of the classic DriveBC platform with its simple graphics, you’ll soon have to say goodbye and move on to an updated version.
That’s because DriveBC will be discontinuing its legacy site as of Oct. 2, 2025, making its new website and app the sole provincial tool available for drivers to receive updates on closures, accidents, and traffic flow across B.C.

DriveBC initially announced the updated platform in June, but only recently confirmed when the legacy site will be permanently shut down.

However, some folks on social media have expressed they aren’t too pleased with the changes.
“Hope you plan on making the new one easier to use because it is useless as far as I’m concerned,” said one commenter.
“Legacy [DriveBC] is way better than the map view puzzles version,” said another.
One trucker noted that they felt the new site is “impossible to navigate on a phone.”
Nooo please no the new site is horrible on a phone. Please. Don’t do that, please. It’s hard enough out here as a trucker, the legacy site has all the info we need. The new site is impossible to navigate on a phone. 🙏🙏🙏🙏

Another driver also chimed in, saying that “every trucker loves the simplicity of the legacy DriveBC.”
DriveBC previously noted that its new platform “features a simplified map and a cleaner, more intuitive design for desktop and mobile users.”
Changes include a new interactive map, which offers a more visually streamlined way to get updates on road conditions and traffic.

“People will benefit from DriveBC’s improved route planning features, allowing them to focus on specific trips, save their favourite ones and receive customized notifications,” stated the province in a previous release.
“The platform’s upgraded highway webcams have a simpler layout and enhanced features for faster access to real-time conditions.”
Other notable features include new, detailed embedded information on border crossings, chain-up areas, and inland ferries.
