Vancouver's new Vietnamese eatery Do Chay Yaletown is a dream
It’s not very often you find that sweet-spot-of-a-restaurant where you could eat its menu any day, any time, but we feel like Do Chay is one of those places.
This plant-based Vietnamese concept was an instant hit when it opened on Kingsway last year, and now, its shiny new Yaletown location is open and operating.
The 1269 Hamilton Street outpost boasts the same style of modern Vietnamese eats as the OG eatery does, but offers a very different vibe.

Do Chay Yaletown has a sunny, 18-seat patio, and it also has a 3oz drink called the GoGo Gadget that will truly make any bad day a good one in an instant.
Obviously we’re big fans of the libations offered here, but it’s the grub that seems to always (and we mean always) hit the spot.
The vegan and vegetarian food here is outstanding. Each plate is filling but not too heavy, giving you the opportunity to try an array of creations each visit.
One of the new dishes at Do Chay Yaletown we can’t get out of our heads is Uncle Hings Wings. These crispy mushroom wings come glazed with a sweet and spicy sauce and it’s a great share plate for the table.
A perfect match for the wings would be the light and refreshing Mango Salad with Seitan, lime leaf, bird’s eye chili, peanut, onion, pickled carrot, and lime.
Another must-try new dish? The green onion pancake with five spice pulled jackfruit, cucumber, hoisin, and cilantro.
For the dedicated Do Chay foodies, rest assured that mainstays like the Black Truffle Tofu, Monsoon Roll, XO Potstickers, and Daikon Cakes are on both locations’ menus.
Probably our favourite Do Chay staple, the crispy vegan spring rolls are served with the eatery’s signature “ish” sauce, and it’s a no-brainer if you’re eating here.
Be sure to head to Do Chay for lunch or dinner the next time you’re in the neighbourhood, Yaletown’s got a flavour of its own and it’s a must-try.
