Upcoming road work will be causing detours and delays for drivers using Highway 99 in South Surrey.

The BC Ministry of Transportation and Infrastructure said that the project will begin next week, working to resurface the interchange ramps, in order to make the drive “safer and smoother.”

Work will begin on Monday, July 15, and will see the following on- and off-ramps resurfaced:

I wonder if any

  • Matthews/Ladner Trunk
  • Highway 91
  • King George Boulevard
  • 152nd Street
  • 32nd Avenue
  • 8th Avenue

Construction from Monday through Saturday will take place from 8 pm to 5 am. Work on Saturday and Sunday will take place from 10 pm to 7 am.

The project, which is valued at $2 million, will carry on until this coming fall.

The ministry says that detour information for ramp closures will be posted in advance on message signs.

Commuters are also asked to give extra time when driving, obey construction zone speed limits, and watch for variable traffic patterns.
