While she may not be part of the mayoral race in Delta this October, Lois Jackson’s name will still be on the ballot.

Jackson, who has served as Delta’s mayor since 1999, and been a part of city council since 1973, will run for a council position with the Achieving For Delta slate, led by mayoral candidate, George Harvie.

“Every team needs a bridge between yesterday and tomorrow, someone who can help the transition from what has already been achieved to what’s possible for the future,” said Harvie on Facebook. “With her extensive record of delivering for the people of Delta, Mayor Lois Jackson is that person – and I’m proud to welcome her to the team.”

Harvie said that with her history and track record, Jackson brings “proven leadership and experience to our team.”

Together, he added, “we will build on our record and push forward on our plan to keep Delta debt-free, protect our farmland, invest in our turf and track facilities, and fight for the George Massey Bridge.”

The election takes place on October 20.
