Dashcam footage wanted after fatal pedestrian crash in South Vancouver

Police are reaching out to the public in hopes of finding dash-cam footage after an early morning crash claimed the life of a pedestrian in South Vancouver.

The incident took place on Thursday, October 18, just after 6 am when an eastbound sedan struck a man who was crossing mid-block near Ross Street.

Several citizens stepped in a provided the 35-year-old victim with first aid and he was rushed to hospital when paramedics arrived.

Unfortunately, he was pronounced dead after arriving at hospital.

The driver of the vehicle, his wife, and child were taken to the hospital for medical assessment and are cooperating with investigators.

Members of the VPD Collision Investigation Unit are asking anyone with dashcam footage of Southeast Marine Drive and Ross Street, between 6 and 6:15 am, to contact them at 604-717-3012.

This is Vancouver’s fifth pedestrian fatality of 2018.
