Pedestrian dies after being hit by car in south Vancouver this morning

Vancouver Police (VPD) are investigating a collision that took place on SE Marine Drive this morning, which claimed the life of one person.

According to VPD, the incident took place near Ross Street, just after 6 am when the victim was struck mid-block by an eastbound sedan.

Police said “several” citizens provided the pedestrian with first aid until paramedics arrived and rushed him to hospital. Unfortunately, the man was pronounced dead at the hospital.

Now, the VPD said it is working with the BC Coroners Service to confirm the identity of the deceased.

The driver of the vehicle, his wife, and child were taken to hospital for a medical assessment.

Police said he is cooperating with investigators.

This is Vancouver’s fifth pedestrian fatality in 2018.
