A man who obtained statutory release last fall and was deemed dangerous was just re-arrested by the Vancouver Police Department (VPD).
Tyler Gordon Strathdee was the subject of a warning by the VPD in November 2025 after he obtained statutory release and began residing at a halfway house in Vancouver.
Vancouver police said that the 37-year-old is a dangerous offender with a history of violence and sexual assault. VPD warned the public that he posed a significant risk of harm and was at a high risk of committing further physical and sexual violence.
He was serving an 11-year, two-month jail sentence for multiple violent crimes he committed in Alberta. His crimes included robbery, assault with a weapon, sexual assault and manslaughter. His sentence was set to expire in 2028 before his statutory release.
“On Thursday afternoon, VPD’s District 5 Officers arrested Strathdee on a Canada-wide warrant for breaching his parole conditions,” VPD said in an email.
He was taken into custody at his Downtown Eastside halfway house and currently remains in custody.
