Dale Tallon quietly removed from Vancouver Canucks website

It appears Dale Tallon’s time with the Vancouver Canucks has come to an end.

The 75-year-old’s name has been removed from the Canucks website. Tallon had previously been listed as a “senior advisor of hockey operations” in the hockey operations section.

Perhaps this should come as no surprise, given the recent front office shakeup. The Canucks hired Tallon in June 2022, months after Jim Rutherford took over as president of hockey operations in December 2021.

Rutherford is still with the organization in a reduced role as “senior advisor.”

Daily Hive has requested information about Tallon’s sudden disappearance from the website. The Canucks have not yet made an announcement about his status with the team.

Tallon previously served as general manager of the Florida Panthers (2010-2020) and Chicago Blackhawks (2005-2009).

This was not Tallon’s first tour of duty with the Canucks. He was the franchise’s first-ever draft pick, taken second overall in the 1970 NHL Draft.  A high-scoring defenceman in junior, Tallon played three seasons for the Canucks before being traded to the Chicago Blackhawks.

This won’t be the last change to the hockey operations section of the Canucks website.

Former player agent Daren Hermiston was hired as the director of player personnel and player development last week. New GM Ryan Johnson is still looking for an assistant general manager, while Manny Malhotra needs to fill out his coaching staff.
