Cypress announces starlit snowshoe trek through a lit-up forest loop

Who said the slopes were just for snowboarding or skiing?

If you’re no newbie to snowshoeing, you’ll know that hiking through the trees into terrain your skis or snowboard could never take you is an awesome experience.

But want to know what makes it even more so? Snowshoeing through the night on a magical lit-up trail, before stopping halfway at a historical lodge to have cookies, hot chocolate, burgers, and maybe even some beers (did someone say “après-snowshoe”?).

This is exactly what you can experience at Cypress Mountain’s new trail, Lights to the Lodge, which takes adventurers on a stroll through an old-growth forest lit up with thousands of glowing lights.

Walk along the incredible route and marvel at ancient cedar, fir, and hemlock trees while you stop and take as many pics for the ‘gram as possible. Halfway through your adventure, you’ll stop at the historic Hollyburn Lodge, where you’ll find everything from hot chocolate and cookies to homemade baked goods, appies, beer, wine, and burgers.

Exploring a winter wonderland at nighttime under a canopy of forest with twinkling lights, complete with indulgent food and drink? Sounds like a winter haven to us.

For those who are a bit timid on the ski hill, it’s an awesome opportunity to discover the winter beauty that Cypress has to offer, without the stress that can come with the slopes. And one of the best parts: if you’re worried you don’t have a pair of snowshoes, don’t worry — tickets include a pair!

The Hollyburn Lodge/Cypress Mountain

This self-guided path on the Burfield and Hollyburn trails is perfect for a romantic night with your loved one, an exciting night out for the whole family, or an opportunity to get a bunch of friends together and explore the outdoors.

This is the first time Cypress has opened up Lights to the Lodge, coinciding with their newly restored Hollyburn Lodge. Sitting on the western shore of First Lake, it’s the only commercial lodge to survive the North Shore prior to 1960, and it dates all the way back to the era of early snow sports in the 1920s. The building has just completed its Renewal Project, which Cypress has been working on since 2015.
