Vancouver Coastal Health has declared a COVID-19 outbreak at the Vancouver General Hospital (VGH) hospitalist unit.

In a statement, VCH says two patients tested positive for the virus so far.

The unit is closed to new admissions and transfers at this time and all visitation has been suspended until measures have been lifted. Exceptions are made for compassionate visits at the end of life.

The outbreak on the hospital’s T12A respiratory unit declared on December 24 is officially over.

VGH says at this time, there is a “limited impact” to other areas of the hospital.
