Metro Vancouver yoga studio closes after discovering two coronavirus cases

A Port Coquitlam yoga studio is closing its doors for two weeks after learning that two individuals who later tested positive for coronavirus visited the studio.

Oxygen Yoga and Fitness’ CEO Jen Hamilton said in a Facebook video Saturday that the studio decided to close immediately after hearing about the two cases from health authorities.

They were not mandated to close, but instead took the measure proactively to prevent further spread, she said.

“Your health, your safety, your mental health is most important,” Hamilton said.

She added Port Coquitlam members should not visit the chain’s other locations. In the meantime, the studio is giving Port Coquitlam members a month of free online classes so they can keep in shape from home.

Fraser Health does not currently list the yoga studio on its public exposure page.

The studio says it has emailed everyone who was in the classes attended by the coronavirus-positive individuals.
