Fraser Health has confirmed that a resident at the Maple Hill care home in Langley has been diagnosed with COVID-19.

The individual is in self-isolation at the long-term care facility, and a Fraser Health SWAT team is currently on-site with communication to residents and families underway.

“Enhanced control measures have been put in place and Fraser Health is working with staff to identify anyone who may have been exposed and is taking steps to protect the health of all staff, residents, and families,” reads a statement from Fraser Health.

In addition to notifying residents, families, and staff, health officials say that other measures are being taken such as twice-a-day screening for staff and residents, as well as restricting movement inside the facility.

Fraser Health will also be present on-site to “take any further actions required and support the facility.”

Maple Hill is one of four long-term care facilities located on the same site as the Langley Memorial Hospital. The four facilities have a total of 220 beds.
