
Multiple lanes of traffic have been shut down after a Coquitlam crash sent a pedestrian to the hospital with serious injuries.
Coquitlam RCMP shared some details about the incident on Tuesday morning.
In a news release, Coquitlam RCMP said that a serious collision involving a pedestrian took place in the 3300 block of David Avenue at around 7:45 a.m.
The pedestrian was transported to a local hospital with serious injuries, and RCMP said the driver of the vehicle involved in the collision remained on the scene.
The Coquitlam RCMP Investigative Support Team is on scene with the Lower Mainland Integrated Collision Analysis & Reconstruction Service (ICARS).
Coquitlam RCMP is also reporting traffic impacts in the form of road closures with no estimated timeline for reopening.
The eastbound lanes of David Avenue and southbound lanes of Coast Meridian Road are closed. Coquitlam RCMP is also asking the public to stay away from the area.
“Coquitlam RCMP is asking anyone who was in the area and may have dash cam footage or witnessed the collision to contact Coquitlam RCMP at 604-945-1550 and quote file number 2026-2713,” RCMP shared in a media release.
Due to the active and ongoing investigation into the crash, Coquitlam RCMP will not be sharing any further details.

Due to a motor vehicle collision the Eastbound lanes of David Avenue and Southbound lanes on Coast Meridian Road are currently closed. There is no estimated time for re-opening.
Coquitlam RCMP is asking the public to remain out of the area.
