Sometimes you just need to put your head down and get to work, which can be hard if you don’t have a dedicated office space.

Co-working spaces are becoming an increasingly popular option for working professionals who work remotely, freelance, or just don’t have their own office yet.

Take a break from working at Starbucks and check out Makeshift Work Space, which just opened its doors last month. The co-working space in Strathcona — one of the few in East Vancouver — strives to provide a place for professionals without distractions “who require productivity more than socializing,” says owner Monique Cherrie.

Makeshift Work Space has wifi, meeting rooms, secure locker storage, private phone booths, reception, bike storage, and 24/7 access.

In terms of pricing, you can choose from daily rates starting from $35 or monthly rates from $295.  Rates are discounted for longer terms. If you sign up for a 6-month term you’ll get 10% off, a 12-month term gets you 15% off, and a 24-month term will save you 25%.
