Road closures coming to Surrey this weekend for huge annual parade

One of Metro Vancouver’s oldest parades is hitting the streets of Surrey this weekend, and commuters are being warned of traffic impacts in the area.

The 77th Annual Cloverdale Rodeo Parade takes place on Saturday, May 17, with dozens of floats and over 1,000 participants.

Several Surrey streets will be closed before the major event that helps kick off B.C.’s biggest rodeo from May 16 to 19.

The parade begins at 10 a.m. near the intersection of 56A Avenue and 176A Street, by the Surrey Libraries Cloverdale Branch and the Museum of Surrey.

It will then head down 176A Street, turning left onto 57th Avenue, and then onto 176 Street. The Cloverdale Rodeo Parade will then head towards the finish line on 177B Street.

Organizers shared that the parade route closes at 9 a.m., with no late entries allowed. Road closures throughout the area will be in effect at 9:30 a.m., and access to the Town Centre can only be made on foot.

This year’s 77th-anniversary Cloverdale Rodeo and 133rd Annual Country Fair runs from Friday, May 16, to Monday, May 19. Guests can check out the live competitions, entertainment, midway rides, food trucks, and more.

Make sure to give yourself extra time to get to the Cloverdale Rodeo this weekend, as the Pattullo Bridge is fully closed to vehicle traffic throughout the Victoria Day long weekend.
