It’s been a tough year for the restaurant industry, and unfortunately, a fan-favourite Metro Vancouver Korean restaurant has announced it will be closing its doors soon.

Cherry Food House broke the news on its Instagram page that it will be closing this month.

“After much reflection, we have made the difficult decision to close the current chapter of Cherry’s Food House. Your support and loyalty over the years have meant the world to us, and we are truly grateful for every visit, every shared meal, and every memory made here,” said the restaurant.

The spot opened back in 2018 and is best known for its array of Korean staple dishes, including fried chicken and seafood pancakes.

Customers took to the comments of the Instagram post to share how much they would miss the restaurant.

“Been coming here for years, so many good memories, even from when I was still with my ex, though it’s hard to say goodbye. Thank you for being a part of my life’s quiet joys,” said one user.

“Wishing you the best,” said another.

However, it’s not all doom and gloom from the restaurant, as the team teased that something is in the works.

“This is not a farewell — behind the scenes, we are preparing something new and exciting, and we cannot wait to share it with you,” said Cherry Food House.

The restaurant will officially close its doors on Sept. 14. Those still looking for their Cherry Food House fix can also visit its other concept, Cherry’s Tofu House, located in the Aberdeen Centre food court.
