It’s not a secret that groceries are getting expensive, and more people are starting to notice. With skyrocketing prices, people are looking for any way to save a few cents on their weekly shopping trip.

Luckily, Vancouver is still home to some spots offering cheap groceries, and we went in person to verify just how good these savings were.

Farm to Table Market is well-known in the Yaletown area for its rotating deals, so you’ll find different sales depending on what day you come. During our visit, we found two packs of blackberries for $5, four kiwis for $5, cucumbers for $1.25, and $1.99 per pound of broccoli and yams.

Not only is this spot known for its discounts on meat products, but its produce selection isn’t half bad either. We found green beans and a hefty head of lettuce for just $1.99, potatoes for $1.99 per pound, and a half dozen rolls for just $3.70.

Address: 2705 22nd Ave. E., Vancouver

When you find a three-pack of bell peppers for just $1.50, we tend to take notice. During our visit, we also found a decent-sized bag of potatoes for $1, a two-pack of raspberries for $6, and $1 for two heads of romaine lettuce. However, these deals were all found in boxes outside the store, and once we ventured inside, the prices weren’t as impressive.

Address: 2342 Hastings St. E., Vancouver

City Avenue Market

While these deals weren’t as great as some of the other spots on the list, it’s still worth noting that City Avenue Market does offer some cheaper produce than some of the larger grocery chains, especially if you’re buying in bulk. Plus, with multiple locations throughout Metro Vancouver, the chances of one being in your area are greater. We found deals like six bell peppers for $4 and three cucumbers for $5.

We found a killer deal on lemons at Aria Market, three for just $1.69. Other deals we snagged included potatoes for $0.59 per pound, avocados for $1.29 each, and kale for $1.99.
