CCM Hockey donating 500,000 surgical masks to healthcare workers

CCM Hockey has joined the fight against COVID-19, announcing that it will donate 500,000 surgical masks to protect healthcare workers.

The Montreal-based hockey equipment manufacturer says it is “in the process of procuring this protective equipment from its established network of partners that normally collaborate in the production of CCM hockey gear.”

CCM is coordinating with government authorities and will arrange for distribution to healthcare workers, possibly as early as April 27.

“By teaming up with our roster of CCM athletes, we will be able to play a role in the collaborative effort to get past this crisis,” said CCM Hockey CEO Rick Blackshaw. “We focused on the best use of our network and our resources to have the quickest impact. Sourcing greatly needed equipment through our established supply chain partners in Asia is the most efficient way for us to support and keep our real heroes safe.”

CCM says the donation was made possible in part due to their partnership with its impressive list of “CCM Pros,” which includes a number of NHL stars like Connor McDavid and Sidney Crosby, who contributed to the donation.

CCM joins rival Bauer Hockey in the fight against the coronavirus. Bauer previously announced that it is now making face shields for medical professionals, and has shared the design so that other companies can make them too.
