Yesterday morning, on Sunday, October 14, thousands were hit with a sudden power outage in Port Coquitlam.

Approximately 3,200 customers were left without electricity after a vehicle crashed into two BC Hydro poles on Lougheed Highway, between Ottawa Street and Sterling Avenue.

Repair crews quickly took to the scene and swapped the customers to a different circuit, restoring power just after 7 am.

They remained in the area to repair the damaged poles and a full recovery was made last night.

The lone occupant of the vehicle was taken to the hospital, fortunately, with non-life-threatening injuries.

Police are still unsure of whether speed, alcohol, drugs, or distracted driving were factors in the crash and are currently investigating.
