With Metro Vancouver experiencing one its longer, colder bouts of winter this season, Capilano Mall is doing its part to help local residents de-ice and help out a good cause at the same time.
On Wednesday, January 11, Capilano Mall will be giving away pre-packaged bags of road salt in exchange for a minimum donation.
All funds raised will support the North Vancouver City Firefighters Local 296 Foundation.
“This has been one of the coldest winters we’ve experienced in years, and the shortage of salt has caused visible mayhem on North Vancouver streets and sidewalks,” said Shera Allibhai, Capilano Mall’s property manager. “With road salt in such short supply right now, and the obstacles this has posed for local residents, we felt the need to contribute what we could.”

Capilano Mall has approximately 7,500 lbs. on-hand.
“We at Capilano Mall recognize the constant efforts made by our local firefighters,” added Allibhai. “We are very pleased to be able to fundraise for the North Vancouver City Firefighters through this community initiative.”
Taking place at the Hanes Avenue entrance to Capilano Mall on Wednesday, January 11 at 10am, Capilano Mall staff and members from the North Vancouver City Firefighters Local 296 Foundation will be handing out salt in pre-packaged 10 lbs. bags for a minimum cash donation of $10 per bag.
Salt will be available on a first-come first-served basis, while quantities last.
