This won’t be your average preseason.
The Vancouver Canucks released the details of their eight-game preseason schedule on Wednesday, and there are a number of interesting wrinkles.
The Canucks will play three times at Rogers Arena, and five games abroad, including two in China.
The first-ever game for the expansion Vegas Golden Knights, who visit on September 17, will be at Rogers Arena.
As previously announced, the Canucks will travel overseas this preseason, playing the first-ever NHL games in China against the Los Angeles Kings in Shanghai (September 21) and Beijing (September 23).
Given the size of their preseason roster and the challenging nature of playing games overseas, not everyone will be making the trip to China. The Canucks will work with a split-squad for games in Shanghai and Beijing, as well as Calgary (September 20) and Edmonton (September 22).
New this season, all games will be broadcast on Sportsnet 650, a yet-to-debut Vancouver all-sports radio station. Sportsnet’s television broadcast schedule will be announced at a later date.
