She said yes: Vancouver Canucks fan pulls off epic mid-game marriage proposal

Last night’s Vancouver Canucks game was extra special for two lucky fans, and not because of anything that happened on the ice.

During a break in the first period, a couple participated in the usual “Finish that Tune” segment, where they guessed the end of song lyrics.

The third and final song was Bruno Mars’ “Marry You,” and when the music stopped, the remaining lyrics were “I think I want to marry you.”

Little did the woman participating know that the entire segment was a setup as her partner got on his knee and pulled out a ring. The crowd roared as they realized what was happening.

“Hey Alexia, will you marry me?” flashed on the big screen, and she said yes. The happy couple embraced and kissed as cheers continued to flood from all corners of the arena.

There’s always a risk that mid-period segments will be cut short for time, but this one went very smoothly, and it made for a moment that neither involved will ever forget.

This isn’t the first proposal to happen at a Canucks game. There have been a few throughout the years where hockey fans get engaged at Rogers Arena, oftentimes during similar mid-period segments.

The Canucks managed to pull out a big win to cap off the special night, beating the Anaheim Ducks 3-2. The game had a bit of everything, including highlight-reel saves, impressive goals, and even a few fights.
