After more than 11 years at Vancouver International Airport, the Canucks Bar and Grill is gone from YVR.

“Icons Sports Bar and Grill” has taken over the former Canucks-themed restaurant, which sits in the U.S. departures area past airport security.

The Canucks Bar and Grill first opened on September 17, 2013, featuring Canucks decor and memorabilia. It even used to feature a gift shop near the entrance.

The team partnered with global restaurateur HMSHost, a “world leader in airport dining,” when the 4,000-square-foot restaurant opened.

And it opened with considerable fanfare.

“Designed to recreate a club level experience at Rogers Arena, the Vancouver Canucks Sports Bar and Grill connects guests to the excitement and action of a Canucks game,” reads a 2013 press release.

Jason Garrison and Mike Gillis were among the attendees at the 2013 ribbon-cutting ceremony.

The rebrand has been much quieter.

The licensing agreement between HMSHost and Canucks Sports and Entertainment has expired, YVR confirmed in an email to Daily Hive.

“Following renovations completed in February 2025 and a new lease agreement with the operator, the space was refreshed in consultation with Vancouver Airport Authority to highlight a broader range of BC sports figures,” a YVR spokesperson told Daily Hive.
