The details for the Canadian Men’s National Team’s upcoming CONCACAF Gold Cup at BC Place have been revealed.
Canada will be facing off against Honduras on June 17. Kick-off is scheduled for 7:30 pm, and it will be their first match of the group stage.
The other teams in the group are El Salvador and Curacao. Canada will play those countries in the week following their game at BC Place, although the last two matches will take place in Houston.
FIFA has ranked Canada in its highest-ever position as they’re currently 30th in the world. Honduras is ranked 75th, El Salvador is 81st, and Curacao is 90th.
Canada faced off against Honduras in March 2023 and beat them 4-1.
Tickets for the game go on sale to the general public on April 17 at 10 am.
The Gold Cup is North America’s major international soccer tournament. This will be the first-ever Gold Cup game played at BC Place, a taste of best-on-best soccer ahead of the city hosting seven games for the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
Canada has won the Gold Cup once before, in 2000. They’ll be looking to build on what’s been a strong run of success on the international stage in search of a second victory.
Canada is in Group B, Mexico is in Group A, and the United States is in Group C. If they all win their groups, the earliest any of those teams can meet would be in the semi-final.
Canada will be without star Alphonso Davies as he’s injured with a torn ACL suffered while representing his country. That’s a big loss for the side, but the country has plenty of other talented young players who are starting to make a name for themselves on the international stage.
