Calhoun’s Bakery Cafe has closed its doors for good.

The 24/7 breakfast and lunch eatery located at 3035 West Broadway was a dependable Kitsilano haunt and a beloved UBC student study hub.

While Calhoun’s Catering is still operating in a new kitchen at 99 East 4th Avenue, the rustic bakery cafe has served its last home-cooked meal and caffeinated beverage.

This spot offered patrons a great selection of baked goods and unlimited Wi-Fi. In recent months Calhoun’s had changed its hours to 7 am to midnight, which was a sign the business might have been struggling.

While no official announcement has been made, the Calhoun’s signage has been removed from the building and replaced with “For Lease” posters.

The physical location may be up for lease, but the symbolic space of Calhoun’s will always have a place in our hearts.
