
One man is dead after a shooting near Metropolis at Metrotown in Burnaby on Wednesday night.
Burnaby RCMP officers responded to reports of shots fired in the area of McKay Avenue and Kingsborough Street at around 6:30 p.m.
When officers got to the scene, they discovered a male victim, and despite life-saving efforts, Burnaby RCMP said that the man did not survive.
Shortly after that, Burnaby RCMP officers also located a car on fire that was about a three-minute drive away on Kingsway and Inman Avenue.
Burnaby RCMP warned the public to avoid the area after the shooting.

“While the investigation is still in its early stages, it’s believed the shooting may have been a targeted incident. Police do not believe there is any further risk to the public. Officers will remain in the area gathering evidence as the investigation continues,” Burnaby RCMP said in a release.
The Integrated Homicide Investigation Team (IHIT) was called to the scene following the incident and has taken charge of the investigation.
