Police are asking for witnesses after two police officers were struck by a car in Burnaby.
A police vehicle was pulled over on the side of the road on the 5000-block of North Fraser Way and North Fraser Crescent when it was hit by a car.
Two male police officers, one from the Burnaby RCMP and the other from the Abbotsford Police Department, were standing outside the vehicle and were injured.
They were both rushed to hospital.
The officers are undergoing treatment, with injuries believed to be serious but non-life threatening.
Police are asking anyone who witnessed the collision to call the Burnaby RCMP at 604-646-9511.
Commuters are also being asked to stay clear of North Fraser Way and North Fraser Crescent while police continue their investigation.
There have been no details released regarding the suspect vehicle or its driver.
The Abbotsford Police Department has shared that Cpl. Aaron Courtney, a 10-year-member of the Lower Mainland Integrated Police Dog Services Unit, is now at home recovering.
The other RCMP officer remains in hospital, although “prognosis for both officers appears to be positive.”
No service dogs were injured in the collision.
