“I couldn’t sleep that night": Burnaby woman wins massive $10.9M lottery prize

A Burnaby woman is $10.9 million richer after winning the Lott 6/49 jackpot.

Trang Dang discovered she’d won the May 28 prize when she checked her Lotto app and found out the thrilling news.

“I was at home when I found out I won. I checked the draw results and questioned if these were the right numbers,” she said. “I couldn’t sleep that night!”

She purchased the winning ticket by chance at a Safeway in New Westminster. She decided to do groceries when a friend was running late for their dinner plans, and decided on a whim to buy a lottery ticket.

“My mom was very excited. She plays the lottery even more than me!”

As for purchases, Dang plans to buy a more comfortable home and travel to Italy, France, and Spain.

“It’s life changing and has made things so much easier,” she said.
