A brand new festival is coming this weekend — and its jam packed with flavours and music from around the world.
From May 31 to June 1, make your way down to Ambleside Park and experience this multicultural festival for yourself.
Throughout the two days, participants will be treated to a variety of multicultural celebrations. Experience live performances that represent cultures from across the globe, eat some amazing food and walk through some beautiful cultural pavilions!
On May 31, beginning at 4 pm, dance your heart away with Mariachi Los Dorados followed by the West African stylings of Kow Kanda at 5:45 pm. Finally, hang around until 8 pm and experience a beautiful fusion of East African, Colombian and Cuban music courtesy of Tanga.
Come back on June 1 for another round of amazing performances. At 4 pm, check out Amir Haghighi and Amy Stephen showcasing their fusion of traditional Persian and Celtic music proceeded at 6 pm by multi-instrumentalist Herbert Kwan. At 8 pm, end your night off with a performance that blends Celtic, gospel and Latin music together brought to you by The Starbirds.
As well, the WVYB Symphonic Band with the Sp’akwus Slulem (Eagle Song Dancers) will take the stage at a time that is still to be determined.
A multicultural festival isn’t complete without food and Bridge Festival will have plenty of it. Munch down on an amazing Venezuelan cornbread sandwich from Come Areapa or some delicious Persian dishes courtesy of Cazba Express. If you’re feeling like something completely different then try some indigenous Brazilian dishes offered to you by the Brazilian Roots Truck.
Other food trucks that will be participating in the Bridge Festival include the following:
