Bomb unit called in for 'neatly wrapped box of garbage' in Langley

Jan 3 2019, 8:18 am

After Langley RCMP received reports of a suspicious package in the the 20400 block of Douglas Crescent, the package turned out to be what was described by police as a “neatly wrapped box of garbage.”

According to police, officers were called to the scene at approximately 2:30 pm, where they found the package.

Unsure of what it was, and out of an “abundance of caution,” the decision was made to call in the Lower Mainland Explosives Disposal Unit (EDU), as well as evacuate the area and close it off to the public.

Upon further inspection, the EDU found the package to be nothing more than trash and the area was re-opened to the public.

In a release, the Langley RCMP thanked the public for their understanding during the incident and “the patience of those who where inconvenienced in any way.”
