Bike the Night Vancouver is back this September — and it’s free to join

Looking to cap off summer with something a little different?
Bike the Night Vancouver is rolling back into town this September with music, lights, prizes, and hundreds of riders cruising the Seawall after dark, and it’s free to join.
Designed for people of all ages and experience levels, the event turns the Seawall into a glowing, music-filled ride route, with a community festival to kick things off.
The flat, 10-kilometre route begins and ends at David Lam Park, with two wave times:
- 6:30 p.m. for families and early riders
- 8:30 p.m. for night owls

What to expect
Bike the Night will begin and end at David Lam Park, where a pre-ride festival includes:
- Live music
- Food trucks
- Games and prize draws
- Bike decorating and tune-ups
- An e-cargo bike showcase
- A chance to win a $250 DoorDash gift card
The event is perfect for people who might ride casually during the day but feel less confident biking at night.
“The combination of music, costumes, bikes, glowing lights, and hundreds of other people creates a very unique community experience,” says Sadie Caron, communications & fundraising manager at HUB Cycling.
“It encourages people to get their bikes out of the garage and shows them how to ride safely at night and have fun doing it.”
How to register
Only 800 spots are available, and they’re expected to go quickly. HUB Cycling is offering early access to lifetime members, and membership costs $10.
Every ticket includes:
- Access to the full ride
- Entry to the pre-ride festival
- A shot at the DoorDash prize pack
No bike? No problem. You can still join the event using Mobi by Rogers or other local bike-share options.
Safety tips for night riding
After last year’s event, 75 per cent of participants reported feeling comfortable biking at night, up from 60 per cent beforehand.
HUB Cycling recommends the following night-riding tips:
- Use a white front light and red rear light
- Aim lights slightly downward to avoid glare
- Choose solid light settings over blinking
- Consider a helmet-mounted light for visibility
- Switch to rechargeable lights to reduce waste
