Best places to eat tacos in Vancouver

There may actually be more Mexican restaurants in Vancouver than there are tiny dogs in Yaletown.

Just kidding – that would be ridiculous. But because there are so many options for Latin American eats, we made a short list that will come in handy when you’re craving one of our favourite Mexican creations – churros tequila tacos.

If you lived in Mexico and say these tacos are the best – then we believe you. A hidden gem that keeps getting props for having the most “legit” tacos in town, Molli Café serves up authentic Mexican tacos on Burrard. If you haven’t heard about this Mexican cafeteria-style spot, don’t waste any time, just go try it yourself.

Tacofino

What can we say other than this is a classic no-brainer when it comes to grabbing tacos. This family of restaurants now has four eateries and two trucks – giving you six times the chances of snagging one of their fresh-to-death creations. Note: taco menus may vary depending on the location – meaning a taco crawl is inevitably in order.

Chancho Tortilleria

This over-the-counter spot from the team that brought you Pacific North West-inspired Fayuca (another fave for Latin cuisine) has a menu completely focused on artisanal tortillas made fresh daily in the Lenin tortilla machine. The team here worked to create a tortilla with the right shape, ones that wouldn’t break when you fill them with delicious fillings and sauces. Tacos that don’t break = top of our list. It’s just science, people.

La Taqueria

Who could resist the colourful eateries that are the La Taqueria family of restaurants. La Taq always brings their A-game when it comes to serving up awesome tacos, and when you pair it with one of their margs (or the housemade horchata) you’ll be in foodie heaven.

Sombreros

At 4 for $10 these tacos are hard to resist. With housemade tortillas and authentic Mexican fillings and sauces, Sombreros has to be at the top of your must-try list when it comes to delicious taco eats – not to mention you can grab some Qeuso-flavoured Ruffles imported from down south to wash ’em down.

This East Vancouver taco spot is as vibrant as the tacos are delicious. The Mexican eatery has a menu with everything you could want to put on a fresh tortilla – as long as it can be topped with fresh onions and cilantro.

Fact: Everything tastes better when it’s a dollar – so it’s a good thing The Pawn Shop offers a Happy Hour with $1 tacos daily from 3 to 6 pm. Despite what you may think, this spot doesn’t sacrifice quality for price. If you want straight up good and filling tacos for a steal, The Pawn Shop is your spot.
