NHL players go big for Halloween.
Sparing no effort with costumes for team parties and posting pics on social media has become an annual tradition, and the goal every year is that players and their partners will display their creativity in positive and humorous ways.
So far so good here in 2019. Hockey fans continue to delighted and spooked by some awesome Halloween costumes worn by some of their favourite players.

Gritty breaking barriers
The NHL’s most popular mascot, Gritty, continues to take over the world with this scintillating Wonder Woman costume. Eat your heart out, Gal Gadot.
Canucks players Shrek it up
Vancouver Canucks sensation Elias Pettersson made an ass of himself this Halloween, dressing as Donkey from the Shrek movies.
And who rounded out the gang? Brock Boeser as Prince Charming (of course), while Chris Tanev got all ogreish as Shrek himself. Quinn Hughes and Thatcher Demko had quite a tail to tell as the pigs, and Jake Virtanen must have been baking inside that Gingerbread Man costume.
Captain greasy
Newly-minted team captain Bo Horvat is definitely the one we want under the dock.
Blinders on
Oscar Fantenberg, Jacob Markstrom, Loui Eriksson, and Alex Edler dressed up as the cast of the British drama series, Peaky Blinders. They must be binge watching Netflix in lieu of playing Fortnite in Vancouver these days.
‘Cause Tim Schaller said so
To cap off the Canucks’ efforts, Tim Schaller pounded some cold ones and stunned as Steve Austin.
Who wore it better?
Ottawa Senators winger Brady Tkachuk as Jackie Moon ….
… or Wayne Gretzky’s son-in-law, PGA golfer Dustin Johnson, as Jackie Moon?
You got a friend in the B’s
This team is very hot right now and creating a lot of Buzz.
The Boston Bruins visited a children’s hospital as the cast of Toy Story 4. Charlie McAvoy was the alien, David Pastrnak was Rex, and Matt Grelczyk dressed as fan favourite Forkie.
Stars on ice
The Dallas Stars did something similar but it was more of a mixed bag, much like their start to the season.
Montreal Money Heist
Montreal Canadiens rookie Nick Suzuki is getting ready for his first contract negotiations on and off the ice. He’s definitely on track for a Money Heist in both arenas.
Family values
Addams family values for Montreal Canadiens goalie Carey Price and his wife Angela this year, that is.
Canadien creeper
Habs forward Tomas Tatar gets bonus points for the creepiest costume of the year. Pure nightmare fuel.
Beetlejuice, Beetlejuice, Beetlejuice
Nate Thompson dressed as Beetlejuice for the Canadiens festivities, his seventh NHL team.
Avengers assemble
We have some super friends in this city, and kids and families LOVE it when they drop by! Today we had a surprise Halloween visit from Calgary Flames players Mikael Backlund, Austin Czarnik, Matthew Tkachuk, Mark Jankowski and Noah Hanifin. #yyc 🎃🎃 pic.twitter.com/Gn3xFP7Exd

The Calgary Flames dressed up for a good cause this year … apart from defeating Thanos, of course.
Halloween ham
Carolina Hurricanes teammates Warren Foegele, Andrei Svechnikov, and Dougie Hamilton made for an interesting trio for their Halloween party.
Greco-Roman Avalanche
Colorado Avalanche teammates Nathan Mackinnon, Mikko Rantanen, and Tyson Jost are ready for the next Olympics… as wrestlers.
Groovy
Jack Hughes, Jesper Boqvist, and Kevin Rooney of the New Jersey Devils took a step back in time with these groovy outfits.
WILSON!
While Devils forward Blake Coleman had this amazing Cast Away couples costume.
Back to school
This is the costume that made me laugh out loud this year. The Nashville Predators are hoping Kyle Turris gets soooooooooo hot on the ice as well.
Bend the knee
Nashville Predators winger Filip Forsberg is on the shelf with a lower-body injury, but he’s still able to bend the knee as Jon Snow.
Sephora spending spree
Preds defenceman Roman Josi is spending his new contract extension money on makeup, it seems. The veteran defenceman looks like an extra from Pirates of the Caribbean.
Blades of Glory
Vegas Golden Knights winger Mark Stone traded in his hockey skates for figure skates, with this amazing tribute to Blades of Glory.
Moustache accessory
Finally, kids dressing up as Auston Matthews this year need a little dirt above their upper lips.
