BCIT has sent out a warning to students, staff, and faculty, following an alleged sexual misconduct incident that occurred at the Burnaby campus, recently.

According to an email sent out to students, the incident involved “inappropriate touching of a BCIT community member by a passing male on a bike” at the SE16 track and field at approximately 6 pm on Friday, July 12.

“While such incidents are rare at BCIT, we are committed to ensuring ongoing campus safety,” wrote Glen Magel, BCIT’s director of safety, security, and emergency management.

Magel added that the school takes “these incidents very seriously” and encouraged students and staff to be aware of their personal safety, as well as familiarize themselves with the school’s Sexual Violence and Misconduct Policy.
