BC SPCA hiring for several jobs and will pay for you to be certified

If you enjoy working with animals and appreciate the work that the BC SPCA does throughout the province, the organization is hiring for several positions, including some that offer a living wage.
BC SPCA will also pay for you to complete specific courses that are required for some of the roles.
The organization is currently hiring three animal protection officers and a regional manager for its animal protection services. All of the roles are full-time jobs, and they all require applicants to complete a criminal record check.
The animal protection officer 1 role pays $24.57 per hour to start and includes a comprehensive list of duties related to animal welfare. Applicants must have a high school diploma. Additionally, there are nine courses required to be completed at the Justice Institute of BC, for which the SPCA will cover the cost, and applicants must complete them within 12 months. Experience in law enforcement is an asset.
The courses are related to criminal law and could prove to be an asset in careers outside of the SPCA.
The animal protection officer 2 role pays just over $30 per hour and requires the completion of the same courses. While many of the duties remain the same, this role also involves additional responsibilities related to court matters, like preparing reports for Crown Counsel.
“The animal protection services roles are perfect for someone who wants to make a difference for animals, but can be difficult to fill as they require a unique ability to share empathy for the animals but also for the humans they are working with,” BC SPCA told Daily Hive.
The regional manager role pays up to $100,125 per year and requires eight years of experience along with a post-secondary degree. Applicants will be required to travel around the province as part of the gig. While officer roles are available around the province frequently throughout the year, the regional manager position has been posted since early 2025.
